get rid of ants

Post by Laura on Sun Jul 19, 2009 7:48 pm

saw this on another site.
The best way to get rid of any kind of ant(s) outside of your home is to sprinkle instant grits on the mound(s). The grits will expand inside the ants stomach and kill them. They take the grits to the queen ant and within a few days the entire bed is gone. It is a very economical and green! I love it because I have dogs and I am always afraid they will eat the poision.
cornmeal works the same.

You know I had a problem with ants earlier this year. I wish would have known about this then. My dog is so little that I am afraid to use even the so-called "safe" stuff. He only weighs 3 pounds. An ant can get inot the poison then go sit in Kipperss dog dish and give kipper a lethal dose. Well, I don't know, but it seems so. I hate to take those chances.

And the thing was, they were infesting his dog dish. No matter how many times I cleaned it, they came back. The apartment owners finally sprayed outside for them and they went away, but grits may have helped me out inside. Next year, I will be ready for them. I always have grits on hand. (I used to live in mississippi.)

I have to keep my bags of dry dog food refrigerated so the darn ants won't eat it. Mad

I don't have a problem with ants anymore (thank God). Where I used to live they would make a trail from the downstairs bedroom to the kitchen. When my husband put poison out my cat got into it and it killed him.

Yeah never get the kind you put on the paper that is sweet. I can't remember what it is called but that is the stuff that killed the cat.
