Yes, you get points just for joining and bidding on auctions. There are lots of ways to earn points. Sign up and you can see the ways that would pertain to you. I'm completely addicted to the site. Love it!

Well Jill I would love to but I have tried and now it says that I have already signed up for Listia. And I haven't ever before. So I don't know what the deal is with them but I emailed them to see if they would help me out. This sucks.

Okay. Now I got my account all ready...but I need to get more credits...I only have 55. And that is sometimes too low for bidding on stuff. I should wait till they auction is almost over for me to bid right?

Yes, but don't wait too long as you have dial up and it will take a bit longer for your bid to go thru. Wait until the last few minutes and see how that works time wise for you. I see that you pm'd me and I will reply with lots of tips for you. Just a bit busy right now. I don't recommend bidding on a weekend anyhow. Too much competition during a weekend. I get most of my items during the week days, morning and early afternoon hours for a lot less points.

Again, I'll pm you with lots of tips, etc. when I have more time.

Okay, got it. Hey why is it when I bidded something it automatically when up a credit right after mine? I mean it was like an automatic thing. Both times. I got outbidded. That quick. I did this before I came in here and read what you wrote. I thought they would give me 5 credits everytime I got outbidded??And I didn't ?? I'm so confussed.

You won't get credits every time you bid. The more active you are, the more often you will get credits for doing things. See my PM's to you.

For your outbidding problem.....someone must have bid a higher amount than you up front. For example, let's say the current bid is showing 25 and you bid 27. It came up and told you that you were outbid because that other current high bidder placed a higher bid on the item. When they bid, they may have put in a max of 50 so until you reach whatever that amount they put in as their max amount, it will tell you that you have been outbid. In the example I just gave, you would need to have put in a bid of at least 51 to outbid that person.

If I'm not going to be online when an auction I want is going to end, I submit my absolute max bid to get that item. Sometimes it works out and I win it because no one outbid me but other times it doesn't because someone was willing to go higher than me to get that particular item.

Oh...I see. Someone else might have put in like 50 credits wayyy prior to the auction or while the auction was in motion huh? How do we know what the silent highest bid is then? That sucks. I will just do it my way and your way. I've won 2 times so far waiting 2 minutes and something seconds because I have dial up and I won it. Also today is July 4th (holiday) and alot of people are doing things with friends and family. While I'm not. I have a good advantage here. Thanks for all your help and the tips. I will keep them in my pm. And when I forget something I'll just come in here and re-read it just to make sure.
You've been a really big help. Smile

You don't know what the highest bid is that someone else may have put in. You have to decide for you what your max would be on something and stick to it. Try not to get wrapped up in bidding higher and higher because you still aren't the highest bidder.

Same here Patty! Lot's of stocking stuffers and little add on type gifts for people thru Listia. I always start early as I hate shopping during the holidays and it also makes it much easier on the pocket book spreading it out over months.

Congrats on the jump rope score!

I came across Patty today on Listia by accident so I became a fan.

Ocean & Flame.....check your accounts, I believe I found both of you as well. I became a fan....you'll know me by my avatar. Let me know.

Anyone else on there?....let me know and I'll become a fan. Never know, I might bid on something as well.
