USES FOR COCA COLA

Post by Laura on Wed Jun 10, 2009 9:42 pm

Remove grease stains from clothing and fabric (I had to start there)

Remove rust; methods include using fabric dipped in Coke, a sponge or even aluminum foil.
Remove blood stains from clothing and fabric.

Clean oil stains from a garage floor; let the stain soak, hose off.

Loosen a rusty bolt; pour on some Coke and wait for the magic to happen.

Kill slugs and snails; a small bowl of Coke will attract them, the acid will kill them.

Prevent an asthma attack! Apparently, the caffeine in two 12oz cans can prevent the onset of an attack.

Clean burnt pans; let the pan soak in the Coke, then rinse.

Neutralize a jellyfish sting.

Clean car battery terminals by pouring a small amount of Coke over each one.

Cure nausea; let a can of Coke go flat then take a teaspoon of Coke every hour.

Also, flat coke can help relieve an upset stomach (aka “the runs”)

Now theres an idea!! My husband and son are always leaving "not so empty" soda cans around. Wasteful!! But I think I might try this. I need to pour it out anyways, I will just try pouring it in the toilet instead of the sink and see what happens.

I don't think the carbonation matters. I remember being in the 4th grade and we put a tooth in a glass a coke. It was almost disinigrated by the end of the week so I'm sure it will chew the yuck right off your potty carbonated or not. HAHA.

Before I try it, anyone know how long I should let it sit?

Okay now you have made me go and google. Here is what I found.

Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl. Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china. It should work equally well for sinks and bath tubs. This is according to household-hints columnist MaryEllen.

They do recommend a fresh full can or bottle not flat, claims the bubblies help.

Okay, you caught me I just like bubblies. No jk I read that at another site.
Tips & Warnings

  • Almost any type of cola will work.

  • Make sure that the soda isn't flat. The fizzing action helps facilitate the cleaning process.

  • Avoid using red or orange sodas, as this may discolor instead of clean your toilet bowl.

  • You can't clean stained or really soiled toilets with a can of Coke. Bring out the big guns for that job: invest in some toilet cleaner.

So it worked okay, but I like my toilets shiny. No shine with coke. I will stick to my reg. toilet cleaner.
